At some point do you think you should not listen to everything your parents say and not care as much what they think of your now?
There's always a middle thing. You should listen to you parents, but not religiously. Anyway, this was a very old topic, and rules says you can't bump threads like this. Make a new one if you have more questions on the subject :)

This comes up with animation in general a lot.

People need to realise that, for films at least, a G rating doesn't mean for kids, it means General Audiences.

As for DBZ, it's rating on the DVD's is TV14, which means that it's mainly intended for people 14 and up. The same with PG13 with films.

I feel that this video that released recently does a great job at explaining that there is no age limit on animation, or anything really (with the exception of toddler shows, like Dora in my opinion). It's a good video, and sums up my opinion.

It really gets at me when people try and say there are certain age limits for watching certain shows, or doing particular things. Age has nothing to do with it. As long as you enjoy it, why does it matter to him or anyone how old you are? It's usually down to the fact that people like that aren't secure enough to like things they consider "childish" and therefore get jealous when people are.

If you enjoy it, then don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Life's all about trying to find things that make you happy.
This statement could not have been stated any better. Very well said in the debate of opinions for age limits for animated tv shows. People really arent secure and respond by trying to bring other people down for watching shows saying you are immature just cause it doesnt appeal to them.

As I said yeah every one needs to grow up and be out on their own have a job and etc. I am 20 I still live at home with my dad but I do chores around the house, I clean the house, cut the grass, wash my car, take care of the dog, help my dad work I the yard. I have a full time job as a nurses aide in a nursing home making 11.51 an hour and saving up money for school and advance into nursing someday down the road. Is there anything wrong with watching dragonball z once in a while. My dad views it as childish because he believes its a cartoon targeted towards kids and say I am 20 years old and watches cartoons and tell me to grow up. I choose to watch it when he is not around so I don't get judged for it. I am glad to talk about this with people even though it is no the internet who understand. Thank you.

No, people think Frozen is childish, and I love that movie, just don't care what people think and you're good.

I watched Fanastic Four animated series few days ago. I know it's suitable and targeted for children audicence, but curious of what the story is like. I just admire the people who worked on the art for the characters and the story.

This is the same reason for me, to continue watching Dragon Ball Z Kai (uncut) way passed age of 25. It's one of best thing to do before end of life.

I just finished packing my DBZ collection to take with me to law school. If it makes you happy and doesn't hurt anyone, what's the problem?

It's not really immature. I mean, come on, does watching something really make you childish or immature? Let me tell you something, immaturity, is when somebody is irresponsible, acts like a brat, doesn't get things done, and looks like a barbarian all the time. Childish, would be doing something a child does, at the age of 19, or 20. Like, something really childish, and not supposed to be used in your adult life.

Simply watching an anime, where people beat each other up, can hardly be considered any of that. Besides, it's not like he has any say in the matter, as to what you should, or shouldn't watch. You are 19, correct? If so, he really shouldn't have any authority over you. Maybe a little authority (being generous), but not some kind of "Stop watching DBZ" authority.

In fact, I'd go as far as to say your dad is childish and immature. Telling other people what to do and not to do, and saying it's all childish and immature, pretty much makes them immature unless it's related to the law, like "Don't steal" or "Don't murder" Basically...no, it's not childish or immature to watch DBZ at that age. If you watched it when you were 100 years old, it still wouldn't be childish or immature.

That's my thoughts on the matter. :D

I'm 19 and watch Dragonball Z all the time. I don't think it's childish at all, whats childish is saying I don't want you to do that because I don't like it or agree with it.

I used to get picked on at high school for watching Dragonball Z but think about it, People are going out of their way to upset you and tell you what to do when you are minding your own business and keeping out of trouble so who is really the childish one?
Just remind him, you could be out causing trouble, doing drugs or what not but instead you are building your future so what does it matter that you like to watch a show he doesn't like in your spare time.
